Distribution Transformer
A distribution transformer is the type of transformer that performs the last voltage transformation in a distribution grid. It converts the voltage used in the transmission lines to one suitable for household and commercial use, typically down to 240 volts.
Using a transformer allows electricity to be usable and to travel over long distances. This means fewer power plants can economically deliver electricity to a wide range of customers safely without losing much energy. Transformers also ensure the power entering your home is safe for your light bulbs and outlets.
